Fastmail Contacts
![]()
I have a lot of contacts in my Fastmail account. In fact, I have so many contacts that some menus (like the compose menu of iMessage) were taking upwards of 20 seconds to load on my phone. It turns out that iPhones just don't have the computational power to support lists of more than n=22,000.
I was disappointed that Fastmail didn't support a way to import contacts from just one folder, so I built it! This small website is designed to let anyone who uses Fastmail sync specific folders of contacts onto their phone or mac. It's designed to be as simple as possible, and supports two-way sync as well, so changes coming from your phone will appear in Fastmail.
You can access it at fastmail.eliot.sh. And if you're a Fastmail user, you might be interested in Nativemail, a native iOS app for Fastmail built with Expo (currently in Alpha).
As an aside, I really really like Fastmail. Will probably write about my workflow with them at some point!
