Open House

Open House is a new viewer for the home archives posted to Dwell, an architecture magazine I read frequently. I use Dwell as a source of inspiration for interior designs, and wanted a better way to browse their articles. The website uses my existing subscription (you should pay for one!) and displays their articles in a minimal grid that makes it easy to find new homes and quickly click into different ones.

I was particularly excited about how the design came out here. I think it's a good example of how a minimalist design (one that was iterated on heavily with Claude!) can turn out very clean and functional. I am also just a sucker for good photography: I think it makes our jobs as web designers much easier.

While building Open House, I also built an app for Apple Vision Pro that converts Dwell's photos into "spatial images," allowing the viewer to literally "step inside" each home. This is so incredibly cool but doesn't come across at all in screenshots or video, so you'll have to make do with this lackluster example.

Dwell, I think this could be big. DM me 🤙
